Unexpected Gardening Secrets from Eminence

Because thoughtful care doesn’t stop at skin
One of the things we love most about working with Eminence Organic Skin Care is that their commitment to sustainability shows up in the smallest, most unexpected ways.
Sometimes those details quietly cross over into everyday life. Including the garden.
Here are two surprisingly useful ways Eminence’s thoughtful practices can extend beyond the spa and into your outdoor (or balcony) space.
Jute Bags: From Carry-All to Garden Planter
If you’ve attended one of our Eminence events or stopped by during a special promotion, you’ve likely seen the sturdy jute bags we use for giftbags. These bags are chosen intentionally. Jute is fully biodegradable, compostable, and remarkably durable for a natural fibre.
What makes jute even more impressive is the plant itself. Jute grows easily, requires little intervention, and absorbs more carbon dioxide while releasing more oxygen than many trees. It is one of those rare materials that manages to be practical and regenerative at the same time.
What many people do not realize is that these jute bags also make excellent planters.
The open weave of the burlap allows excess water to drain easily while still holding enough moisture to support healthy roots. At the same time, air is able to circulate freely through the soil, which helps prevent rot and encourages strong plant growth.
Jute bags have been used successfully for tomatoes, herbs, strawberries, lettuce, and even potatoes. They are especially helpful if you are short on garden space or working with patios and porches.
To use a jute bag as a planter, simply fill it with good quality potting soil and place it somewhere water can drain freely from the bottom. Once planted with seeds or young plants, make sure the bag is supported so it stays upright as the soil settles. From there, care for it just as you would any container garden.
It is a simple, functional way to reuse something you may already have while adding a little greenery to your space.
Biodegradable Packing Peanuts That Feed Your Plants
Another quiet sustainability detail worth appreciating is how Eminence ships their products. Instead of traditional styrofoam, they use biodegradable packing peanuts made from cornstarch.
These peanuts are non-toxic and designed to dissolve easily in warm water. They also break down naturally in soil or compost, leaving nothing harmful behind.
For gardeners, there is an added bonus. Cornstarch contains natural starches that can help support nutrient activity in soil. When broken down, these starches can assist in making nutrients more available to plants, acting as a very gentle fertilizer.
To use biodegradable packing peanuts in the garden, place them in a watering can filled with warm water and allow them to dissolve completely. Stir until the water is clear, then use it to water your plants as you normally would.
It is an unexpected way to turn shipping materials into something useful rather than waste. Interested in having access to peanuts for your fertilizer needs? Let us know!
Care That Circles Back
We often think of sustainability as something large and complex, but many of the most meaningful practices are simple and practical.
Reusing a bag. Feeding soil gently. Letting materials return to the earth instead of heading to the landfill.
These small choices reflect the same philosophy we bring to skin care and self care. Thoughtful use. Respect for natural systems. Doing what we can, where we are.
Sometimes, even a garden can benefit from that mindset.
