Thirsty Skin? Let’s Talk About Dehydration, Hyaluronic Acid & Getting Your Glow Back

Sometimes your skin isn’t “bad.” Sometimes it’s just thirsty.

Dehydrated skin can show up as tightness, dullness, fine lines that seem a little louder than usual, or that frustrating feeling where your moisturizer just isn’t quite doing the job. And the tricky part? Dehydrated skin can happen to anyone; even if your skin is oily, combination, sensitive, or breakout-prone.

That’s where hyaluronic acid comes in.

Despite the word “acid,” hyaluronic acid is not an exfoliating acid. It does not sting, tingle, or peel the skin. It is a humectant, which means it helps attract water to the skin and gives the complexion that plump, fresh, dewy look we all love. Eminence notes that hyaluronic acid works best when applied to damp skin and followed with moisturizer to help seal hydration in.

Think of it like watering a plant. You don’t just mist the air around it and hope for the best, you give it water, then help the soil hold onto it. Skin is a little less dramatic than a houseplant, but only slightly.

A hydrating routine does not have to be complicated. In fact, it should feel supportive, not like another job at the end of the day.

Start with a gentle cleanse (try the stone crop gel wash) to remove the day without stripping the skin. Follow with a light exfoliation (like the strawberry rhubarb dermafoliant) a few times a week to help smooth away buildup so your hydrating products can work more effectively. Then mist, essence, serum, and moisturize while the skin is still slightly damp. (my suggestions: Stone Crop Cleansing Oil, Birch Water Purifying Essence, Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum and the Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Hydrator.)

That damp-skin part matters. Hyaluronic acid pulls moisture toward itself, so applying it right after cleansing, misting, or using an essence helps give it something to hold onto.

At Re:mind, we love hydration-focused routines because they support the skin barrier, soften the look of fine lines, and bring back that healthy, rested glow - even when life has been anything but restful.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s comfort. Skin that feels calm, supported, and replenished.

Because your skincare routine shouldn’t feel like a punishment for having skin. It should feel like a few quiet minutes of care, a little reminder that you deserve to be looked after too.

Not sure if your skin is dry, dehydrated, or just over everything? Come see us at Re:mind. We’ll help you build a simple, supportive routine that feels good on your skin and in your life.
